History
K E Four-track Studio
In 1987 Kinde Enterprises was opened to the public in the Detroit suburb of Roseville, Michigan. It came into being through the musical evolution of it's owner/manager George Kinde. After playing guitar in a few garage rock bands with his brother Geoffrey Kinde (drums), George saw the need for a competent sound man and decent, but affordable, demo recordings. Having a long standing interest in sound recording and live sound engineering, he decided to convert the rehearsal space (the hayloft of a two and a half car sized barn) into a recording studio. K E 4-track Recording Studio was literally born in a barn on 10 ½ mile road, just west of the Ritz concert complex on Gratiot.
At that time K E produced 4-track, dbx encoded, recordings on 1/4 width reel-to-reel tape. Multi-track recordings were mastered to half-track format. Cassettes were also produced from the half-track format recordings and duplicated. Other services were demo packages for publishers and record companies, band promotional packages, and preparing copyrights.
Take One Recording Studio
Around 1990, the studio acquired a Fostex 8-track 1/4 inch reel-to-reel and evolved into Take One Recording Studio. By this time the studio had added more sound processing equipment and higher quality microphones. The change in format, the additional equipment and use of more standardized recording methods greatly improved the end product. Additional dual cassette decks made cassette dubbing much faster and cleaner.
The studio was slowly building business from the 80s, but things peaked when George formed a partnership with Rick Mall in the early 90s and started Detroit Noise Rehearsal Studio, a store front studio on the Eastside of Detroit. The three years Detroit Noise lasted were the peak years of the barn recording sessions. It was during this peak period when George and Geoff Kinde produced “The Kinde Brothers” project. Because of the availability of time and equipment, this project was one of the best to come out of Take One Recording Studio.
The Kinde Brothers Complete Demo
These songs were digitized from the 1/2 track master and better represent the quality produced by Take One Recording Studio.
The Kinde Brothers songs were written and performed by Geoffrey Kinde (drums and vocals) and George Kinde (vocals and all other instruments). The last three songs should have been, but were not on the half-track master or fully produced. These songs were mastered to metal cassette with George singing backups.
